Italian police have shut down a website that sold counterfeit Prada products.
The Pordenone unit of Italy’s financial police the Guardia di Finanza said the website was very sophisticated and had shipped products to consumers around the world.
“The products, although very accurate in every detail, were not authentic. They were extremely well-made counterfeits,” the unit said in a statement on January 22.
According to the International Business Times, the website used a digital payment system commonly used by accredited retail chains.
An individual suspected to be behind the website, who was not named, was traced to central France.
European news website The Local said a French woman is facing charges related to the website.
