Pop star Taylor Swift has registered two website addresses containing the newly launched .adult and .porn generic top-level domain names (gTLDs).

According to Whois, a protocol for recording a domain name registrant and their contact information, Swift registered the two domains, taylorswift.porn and taylorswift.adult, on March 2, but it has only recently come to the public’s attention.

The sunrise period for applying for .adult and .porn domain names began on March 2 and ends on April 1.

The sunrise period allows brand owners to obtain domain names containing their trademarks before the gTLD is open to the public. It is designed to prevent bad faith registrations.

From June 1, the .adult and .porn gTLDs will be open to the general public.

Technology company Microsoft has also registered web addresses using the .porn and .adult strings.

Swift’s registrations follow a series of trademark applications filed at the US Patent and Trademark Office for a number of song lyrics from her album 1989.

The applications cover lyrics such as ‘This sick beat’, ‘Nice to meet you, where you been’ and ‘Party like its 1989’. The applications are pending.
