The UK’s Trading Standards Institute (TSI) has issued advice to World Cup fans on how to avoid purchasing counterfeit tickets, ahead of the tournament kicking off tomorrow, June 12.
The TSI recommended football fans purchase tickets online from legitimate websites, reminding customers that they can legally purchase tickets only from the official World Cup website.
Fans should also read the terms and conditions in order to understand their rights when it comes to refunds, exchanges and transferring tickets to another party, the TSI said.
Alice Nugent, lead officer for special events for the TSI, commented: “While we know fans are excited leading up to preparations for the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games, if they fail to buy tickets from official sources, they risk losing money”.
